Missing Teeth. :(

July 19th, 2008

Soooo- last year, whilst visiting family in WA, I had my appendix out - THIS year, apparently, I will be leaving my right canine here as well. Seems I fractured my tooth and they are doing a root canal/possible cap / LIKELY extraction on Monday. Doesn’t that sound like fun? NOT!!! As if that wasn’t bad enough, my teeth are not an approved color for an implant, so they will do the operation for my new implant tooth (btw - the operation sounds hideous) and then have to BLEACH my other teeth to match. SHEESH. Seriously, I can’t catch a break here. Can you say INSURANCE does not cover 75% of this procedure, how would you like your change - perhaps in VW’s. MAN it is going to cost a small fortune for this little dealio, and if I wasn’t quite so vain I would just leave the hole in my head, but it is right up front, and I am only in my mid thirties. What really blows is that I have GREAT teeth - no cavities etc - just a RANDOM fractured tooth - the dentist says it is likely from grinding my teeth at night. So, if you are a grinder, start saving now for those implants HAH HAHHAHAHAHAHAH.

In other news, I am working on a new kit - totally off the norm for me, but I was inspired to do it, so I will let you and your pocketbooks be the judge of it!  OH OH OH, and while antiquing this week I found some FANTASTIC things that I will be mojoing into a Halloween kit. BUAHAHAHAHH. I also found the treasure in the store - they didn’t know what they had there - an antique garden wall pocket of a cricket - tee hee. Probably Weller or possibly some other maker, but totally worth the money I spent on it.

 That’s all for now. Later!

Holy Drumbeats Batman!

June 29th, 2008

So here I am at the edge of the world - literally… NOT a SOUL in site taking my rest and relaxation to extremes when out of the BLUE on my own private piece of terra firma, who should arrive but a roving band of ROWDY, RUDE, LOUD, DRUNK peoples. Not only was it TOTALLY unreal that there would be anyone else on this piece of the beach, but that they stayed all night - about 150 of them … played drums sang chants and were basically UNREAL loud. (Did I mention fireworks and DRUMS DRUMS D-R-U-M-S) I was reminded of what it must have felt like for the settlers who came west and camped out on the prairies listening to distant drumming…oh how I WISHED it was distant.

Generally speaking, I am all for having a good time, but my mood wore THIN, very thin, at 3:17 am and there there two of them fighting for their lives outside my door of the RV. I considered the thought that a bullet probably would make it through the shell of the RV faster than I could move my tired buttox out of its way… Did I mention that everyone else was OBLIVIOUS to the hoopla - and I mean HOOPLA in its worst sense of the word. Peacefully sleeping whilst I was thinking we may just get ourselves killed or worse, we may have to spend our seclusion WITH THEM.

Luckily, I wasn’t the only one who did NOT see the humor in their arrival, and the tribal elders came lickity split in the morning to take care of things. I spied the whole thing out of my RV window as the loud crew were hungover and seriously NOT in the MOOD to be kind to the elders. They ended up calling law enforcement to come and deal with them. I was NOT sorry to see them and their drums go. :)

They ruined the beach by riding quads all over it too… TOTALLY against all of the tribal rules and regulations - such a totally uncool thing for them to do. I felt bad that the tribe had to come and deal with all the garbage they left strewn everywhere and the lack of respect for this untouched and until NOW unspoiled ecosystem.  I am restored into my seclusion today and am borrowing some internet wifi action from an elder down the road :) I just HAD to write this post and get it off my chest.

For those of you who think it was the native population that were rude and rowdy, you have guessed WRONG. I am constantly SHOCKED at the complete and total lack of respect for the earth that my fellow humans have. Let me leave you with this quote which my grandmother loved… Hurt not the earth, neither the seas, nor the trees.  I know there is more to it, but that is all I ever learned of it.
